The bottom was turned clamped to a large auxilary faceplate.  It works well for small open items, but reduces what I can fit on a midilathe.

The box is about 3 inches in diameter, and is also finished with shellac.

Another gift - this time from a coworker's firewood.  Some of the curliest maple I've seen, but small pieces.
braz_cherry_bowl.jpg
This is the largest segmented bowl to date.  Nothing really striking about the design, but the wood is Brazilian Cherry with a ring of purpleheart/yellowheart/purpleheart.  The base is also purpleheart.  There are 109 individual pieces of wood in the bowl.

OK, I know this is a duplicate.  I turned a pair of tall candlesticks from the same log, but I haven't found the photos yet.

I apologize for the photo quality.  I'd retake them but I sold the bowl at the 2002 Harvest of the Arts (Wellington, Ohio) as a gift going to France.  Does that make me a world famous international turner?

This cherry bowl, about 4 inches in diameter and 1-1/2 inches deep, is finished on the lahe with foodsafe shellac.

A good friend of mine gave me all the boxelder I could carry.  This was a small piece, but loaded with the traditional boxelder color.
